Footage and rights
Where the footage in your video comes from, how it's credited, and what to check before you publish.
Where footage comes from
For each line of the script, PointShift looks for footage in this order of preference: video clips, then photos. The sources are:
- Web videos, mostly YouTube
- Web images
- Stock libraries: Pexels and Pixabay
- Public domain archives and government film collections
- Your uploads
When nothing fits a shot, and AI generated shots is on in the brand profile, the shot is drawn instead.
How it’s credited
- While a web clip is on screen, its source shows in small type in the corner, for example “© Channel name”. It’s in the preview and in the export.
- A drawn shot shows AI Representation instead.
- The credit steps aside while a graphic covers the frame.
What’s left out
Clips with another creator’s watermark, a stock watermark, burned-in titles, or another channel’s logo are skipped. A news report keeps its own station logo, and a page or chart keeps its own text, when that’s what the line is about.
If something slips through, use Add blur in the editor, or swap the shot.
Before you publish
You decide what goes out on your channel. Before you publish:
- Watch the video through and swap any shot you aren’t comfortable using.
- Use Your uploads for footage you own or have licensed.
- Keep the source credits in place.
The rules for using third-party footage depend on how it’s used and where you are. Generating a video means you agree to our Terms, including the section on footage.
